Karla Henderson Out ... As City Continues Restructuring

DETROIT (AP) - Detroit's Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr is making some high-ranking changes within Mayor Bing's administration.

Orr's office says Karla Henderson has been let go from her position, which had oversight of the city's planning and development programs.

Those responsibilities are now being transferred to the Detroit Economic Development Corporation as part of the city's ongoing restructuring efforts.

The EM has also fired Cedric Cook -- the chairman of the Detroit General Retirement System.

He's been criticized for taking an all expenses paid trip to a conference in Hawaii earlier this year but Orr's office says Cook's dismissal had nothing to do with that. Cooks says his sacking is ridiculous and plans to fight it.
