Autistic Teen Missing Since Saturday

DEARBORN  (WWJ) - A teenage boy with special needs is missing from Dearborn.

Police say 16-year-old Charles Foster literally ran away from his home on the 4600-block of Schlaff over the weekend.

Charles' parents said they were awakened by a noise at around 10:45 p.m. Saturday. That's when they saw Charles as he was leaving, but were unable to catch him as he sprinted from the home, headed north.

Police say Charles suffers from Autism, bi-polar disorder and mood swings.  Police say he has run away before and will frequent restaurants and gas stations where he will sometimes beg for food.

Charles is 5 feet, 2 inches tall, weighs 110 lbs, and looks very young for his age. He has short hair and wears small frame glasses. Charles was last seen wearing a beige, collared short-sleeve shirt with horizontal stripes and dark shoes.

The family doesn't believe Charles is a danger to himself or others.

Anyone who sees Charles is asked to call 911 or  Dearborn police at 313-943-2241.
