SWAT Team Surrounds Farmington Home

FARMINGTON (WWJ) - A SWAT team was on the scene, Thursday morning, where an armed man was holed up in a Farmington home.

Shortly after 11 a.m., police said they'd talked the man out of the house without any shots fired.

Farmington Public Safety Director Robert Schultz told WWJ's Mike Campbell they'd dealt with this man before and knew there were guns inside the home.

"We had an incident reported at approximately seven this morning," said Schultz. "Based on the nature of the incident and some past history we have with the homeowner, we're going to take every precaution when we make contact and attempt to get him out of the home,"

Schultz said they'd been called to the home in the past to investigate a reported instance of domestic violence.

Police aren't saying what, exactly, prompted them to visit the home again Thursday.

Neighbors in the area of 9 Mile Road and Hawthorn, near Grand River, were evacuated as a precaution.

No one was hurt.
