DETROIT (WWJ) - Whoever shot a Good Samaritan near the Renaissance Center is still on the loose.

Police and Crime Stoppers are asking for the public’s help to track down a suspect after, last month, a young woman was robbed in downtown Detroit shortly before 1 a.m. on Aug. 12.

Good Samaritan Calvin Robinson witnessed the incident and pursued the suspect. He was then shot in the head a few blocks away, at St. Antoine and Atwater.

A group of eight black males, and one black female is recorded on surveillance video walking east on Jefferson crossing the entrance ramp for the Detroit Windsor Tunnel.

Three of the group’s most noticeable members are:

- A black male wearing a red shirt, dark pants and red shoes. He was carrying what appeared to be a long blue light saber or glow stick that blinks.
- A black male wearing a white t-shirt, white hat and tan pants.
- A black male with no shirt and blue jeans.

The incident occurred while the Rib and Soul Festival was taking place at Hart Plaza, and there are believed to have been many witnesses to the robbery and the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-SPEAKUP. You can also text CSM and your tip to 274637.

There are no Caller ID phones at Crime Stoppers where they say they’re “obsessive about anonymity.”  Callers are never asked for a name, phone number or any kind of identifying information.

A $1,000 reward is being offered for the tip that leads to an arrest in this case.
