Police: Woman Sexually Assaulted By Carjackers

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are asking the public to help them catch two men connected to a robbery involving the sexual assault of woman on the city's east side.

The incident happened around 4 a.m. Tuesday, when the suspects approached a vehicle stopped at an intersection near Outer Drive and Conant Street, a few blocks east of Dequindre Road.

The suspects then forced the occupants, a male and female, out of the vehicle and robbed the male a gunpoint. Police say the suspects then forced the female between two houses where they sexually assaulted her.

The two suspects then took the vehicle and fled the location, according to police. Officers responded to the area and were able to locate the vehicle in the area of Ryan Road and Nevada Street, where the suspects escaped on foot in an unknown direction.

Police say the female victim was transported to Detroit Receiving Hospital where she is being treated for her injuries.

The suspects are both described as black males in their 20's, about 6-feet tall, wearing a dark sweatshirt with a hood. Police say one of the suspects was armed with an assault rifle, while the other was armed with a shotgun.

Anyone with information on the case is urged to contact the Detroit Police Department's Criminal Investigation at 313-596-5240 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
