Man Broadsided In Detroit, Seatbelt Keeps Him Inside Flipped Car

DETROIT (WWJ) Detroit worker Ed Parker's Wednesday morning commute was anything but typical. Parker's SUV was broadsided at the intersection of Gilbert and Horatio by someone who ran a yield sign, he said, flipped his car -- then disappeared.

Ed Parker said "the guy ran the yield sign and hit me, took off."

He added: 'He hit me real good, I'm just lucky I'm not hurt."

Parker ended up hanging upside down inside the vehicle, with only the seatbelt holding him to the car. He said he was worried about how long the safety belt would hold.

"I was getting sick to my stomach, I had just gotten through eating breakfast," Parker reported, laughing.

He eventually managed to extricate himself from the car and was last seen walking around the vehicle, marveling at his good fortune.
