Tigers Fever: Detroit Fans Devour Post-Season Gear
DETROIT (WWJ) - With the American League Championship Series tied at 2-2, Detroit Tigers fans are gobbling up post-season gear.
At Fanatic-U in Taylor, Nicole Scotch says business has been brisk. "It's been good. We've been having people coming in, wiping their feet at the door on the Boston doormat."
When it comes to a potential World Series appearance, Scotch said her store is making preparations. "We stock every week and make sure that we're fully ready," she said, "Our basic jersey Ts are $24.99 — we do have a little bit of a variety; and our jerseys are about $100, with the name and number on it."
Which are the hottest items?
"All of our hoodies, dugout hoodies that the players wear; anything that the players wear is what everybody wants," Scotch said.
When it comes to jerseys, she said, the best-selling names are "Scherzer" and "Cabrera," with "Verlander" coming in at a respectable third.
Planning to meet friends to watch the game downtown Thursday night, Hernon Gara of Allen Park stopped by to pick up a post-season hoodie.
"I do collect them," he told WWJ Newsradio 950's Marie Osborne. "I do like having 'em, so, every year I usually buy something. You know, it's October, so I like to buy the sweaters."
