DETROIT (WWJ) – There’s a safe, free way to get rid of those expired or unused prescription drugs in your medicine cabinet.

Saturday, Oct. 26, is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

It’s a free, anonymous way to get rid of prescription drugs, and keep them out of America’s waterways and more importantly, out of the hands of prescription drug abusers.

Rates of prescription drug abuse – especially painkillers like Oxycontin and Vicodin — are a key reason for the annual event.
Studies show most abused prescription drugs are taken from family and friends, often right out of the medicine cabinet.
