Vance Wilson To Manage Northwest Arkansas Naturals

SPRINGDALE, Ark. (AP) — The Kansas City Royals have named former major league catcher Vance Wilson as manager of the Northwest Arkansas Naturals.

The Royals on Friday said Wilson will succeed Brian Poldberg as manager of their AA affiliate in Springfield. Poldberg has been named manager of Kansas City's AAA Omaha Storm Chasers in the Pacific Coast League.

Wilson played eight seasons in the major leagues with the New York Mets and Detroit Tigers. He retired as a player after playing in 59 games with the Naturals in 2009 and has spent the past three seasons as a manager in Kansas City's minor league system.
