Police: Icy Roads A Factor In Fatal Crash On I-75

FRASER TWP. (WWJ) – Bay County Sheriff’s deputies say icy roads played a factor in a crash along I-75 that claimed the life of a 52-year-old woman from Novi.

The accident happened around 9:10 p.m. Tuesday on northbound I-75 between Coggins and Pinconning roads in Fraser Township, just north of Bay City.

Police said Janie Savage died after her car struck the rear of a semi-trailer that had slid off of the freeway. She was declared dead at the scene. The truck driver was not injured.

The freeway was closed for about four hours because of the crash, but has since reopened.

An investigation is ongoing.
