LANSING (WWJ) – Michigan is losing seven million dollars a day, according to senate Democrats, the result of Republicans voting to delay the implementation of Medicaid expansion until mid-March.
Republican Senate Majority leader Randy Richardville doesn’t agree.
“Instead of talking about the celebration of more people getting benefits, about reduced lines at emergency rooms … instead they’re saying that we have to wait ten weeks for this program to hit and that that’s the evil part of it,” said Richardville.
“Really, what we have is a delay in those benefits being rewarded . You’re gonna have to wait until March twelfth before you are eligible for actually getting that treatment in the payment of that. To say we’re losing that money & turning people away is just plain and simply a lie and it’s looking for a little bit of extra attention in an election year,” he said.
Senate Democrats have set up a website, HERE , detailing the money being wasted by the delay.
