Officials: Man Stabs Girlfriend After Breakup Text

PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) — Officials say a Michigan man stabbed his girlfriend after she told him via text message that she no longer wanted to be in a relationship.

The Oakland County sheriff's department said in a statement deputies responded Saturday night after a 25-year-old woman told police that the man stabbed her 27-year-old roommate and took her out of the apartment at knifepoint in the Detroit suburb of Pontiac.

Investigators say the stabbing victim's three young children, ages 2 months to 2 years, were present at the time.

Sheriff's deputies arrested the suspect, a 30-year-old from Pontiac. Charges are pending. The woman who was stabbed was taken to a hospital.

Child protective services workers responded and took custody of the children. The sheriff's department says three steak knives were recovered from outside.
