Growing up in the early 1990s, if you watched baseball you most likely were somewhat a Ken Griffey Jr. fan. I know he was ‘the man’ when it came to baseball. The way he would rob home runs, hit home runs and just flat-out look awesome wearing his Mariners hat backwards is something I’ll never forget.

Junior was an idol of mine, though he lost some luster when he went to the Cincinnati Reds and seemed to balloon up. It kind of ruined the whole hero thing for me.

After watching the interview he did with ESPN’s Linda Cohn, I don’t know what to think anymore. Junior was promoting Upper Deck and it just didn’t seem like he wanted to be there at all.

Griffey did apologize for the way he acted but it seemed like a weak excuse to me.
