Learn The Art Of Massage For Free!

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - It's great to receive one, but have you ever wanted to learn how to give a really good massage?

Kathy Skubik with Irene's Myomassology Institute in Southfield tells WWJ Health Reporter Sean Lee there are benefits of learning the art of massage — even for those who don't want to make it a career.

"Not only does it feel good, but it's also really good for you," Skubik said.

She said there's years of solid research on the physical and mental benefits of massage.

"Things like reducing pain from rheumatoid arthritis has been proven," Skubik said. "A really good study showed that the anxiety from military veterans had been drematically reduced. (It can) improved sleep, reduce pain."

Those benefits are why Irene's offers a free, two- hour class to learn massage techniques.

The next free class happens this Friday, March 21,  from 7 to 9 p.m. If you can't make it, there will be another one on Friday, April 25.
