Downed Line Knocks Out Power Along Woodward

BLOOMFIELD HILLS (WWJ) – Authorities say a downed power line along Woodward Avenue is causing about 1,400 outages in Oakland County.

The power went out just before 5:30 a.m. Tuesday after a car accident knocked down a power line near Woodward Avenue and Square Lake Road in Bloomfield Hills. It’s unclear if anyone was injured in the accident.

DTE Energy crews are on the scene making repairs and hope to have the power restored as soon as possible, although it’s not clear how long that will take.

Workers at the Dunkin Donuts shop near Square Lake Road are keeping the business open — taking orders with a pen and paper and wearing coats to keep warm — but without power, Manager Lizzy Bradley said there’s really not much they can do.

“You have no idea how bad it is. We get our rushes in and we have no coffee,” Bradley told WWJ’s Mike Campbell. “We do have donuts, bagels and muffins, but it’s just not the same.”
