DETROIT (WWJ) - A metro Detroit foundation is working to make the burden of breast cancer just a little bit lighter for patients in need.

Getting a diagnosis of breast can be devastating, but add to that the stress of worrying about whether you'll be able to pay your bills, and it can be overwhelming.

That's where the Shades of Pink Foundation comes in.

Retired teacher and Breast cancer survivor Rona Katzman got help when she needed it most, and now, she's paying it forward.

"I just breathed a sigh of relief and could go through my chemo and my labs and just, woo! A big relief," Katzman said. "I'm eternally grateful, and I promised that I would be hard of the Shades of Pink walk to thank the people that were there for me."

Shades of Pink is holding its 8th Annual Walk this Saturday at the Detroit Zoo. It's biggest fundraiser to help breast cancer patients in financial distress.
