Police Search For Man Who Offered Help, Then Robbed Elderly Woman

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are searching for a man who offered to help an elderly woman, and then robbed her.

The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. on Easter Sunday at a gas station in the 20000 block of Mound Road, near Outer Drive on the city's northeast side.

According to police, the 83-year-old woman exited the gas station and was approached by the suspect, who asked her if she needed help.

Police say the suspect began pouring anti-freeze in the woman's vehicle and as she turned away, the suspect grabbed the woman's purse, which was on her left shoulder, and escaped in a white vehicle.

The suspect is described as a black male with a medium complexion, approximately 20-years-old, 5'4" tall and 180 lbs.
