Kroger Recalls Ice Cream Over Unlisted Allergens

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - Kroger is recalling two brands of ice cream over a labeling issue.

The recall affects 16-ounce containers of Private Selection Chocolate Hazelnut Mascarpone Ice Cream and Private Selection Caramel Hazelnut Fudge Truffle Ice Cream. UPC numbers: 1111052101 and 1111052100.

Kroger says the ice cream, which was sold in Michigan and in multiple other states, may contain egg not listed on the label and that could cause a reaction in those with egg allergies. For consumers who are not allergic to egg, there is no safety issue with the product.

No illnesses have been reported.

Kroger says it has removed the item from store shelves and initiated its customer recall notification system that alerts customers who may have purchased recalled the products through register receipt tape messages and phone calls.

Kroger asks that customers carefully check their freezers and, if they wish, return any opened or unopened products included in the recall to their local store for a full refund or replacement.

Customers who have questions may contact Kroger toll-free at 800-KROGERS (800-576-4377). For more information, visit this link.
