Teen Arrested In Attack During Gay Pride Event

DETROIT (AP) — A 16-year-old has been arrested in the videotaped beating of a man during gay pride celebration in downtown Detroit.

Police say Friday that the teen was part of a group of five to eight males who punched and kicked 20-year-old Christin Howard.

The gay rights group Equality Michigan has said Howard was taking a photo Sunday with a friend along the popular RiverWalk when the men attacked him and used homophobic slurs.

A cellphone video shows Howard fighting back. Police continue to seek the identities of the other attackers.

Motor City Pride was held last weekend along the riverfront.
