I’m not exactly sure how many MLB teams still use pitching machines, but the Tampa Bay Rays are still one of those teams. During batting practice on Thursday, former Tiger Matt Joyce took on the pitching machine.

While taking swings, something out of the ordinary happened. Joyce got a pitch and hit it weakly back to the pitching machine — and he hit it so perfectly the ball landed right back into the pitching machine. Without hesitation the ball was delivered right back to Joyce.

Luckily the ball did not strike Joyce and he moved out of the way even though he didn’t really have to.

To me the best part of the video happens when you look carefully behind the cage and check out Rays manager, Joe Maddon, making one of those “OOOH” faces. It’s pretty funny to me at least.
