Report: Jodie Meeks Signs With Pistons For $19 Million Over Three Years

DETROIT (97.1 THE TICKET) - The Detroit Pistons have reached a three-year deal worth $19 million with SG Jodie Meeks, per Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.

Meeks averaged 15.7 points per game last season with the Los Angeles Lakers in 33.2 minutes per game. He's entering his 6th season in the NBA out of the University of Kentucky.

One thing Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy has emphasized is acquiring a "knock down" shooter for his roster. Meeks shot just over 40 percent from 3 point range last season. His career field goal percentage is 42.4 percent.

In Meeks, the Pistons snagged a solid 3-point shooter, which the team desperately needed after finishing 29th in the NBA in 3-point field goal percentage last season. Meeks should help that situation, having made 40.1 percent of his shots from beyond the arc last year.

Averaging 15.7 points, 2.5 rebounds a game the 26-year-old Meeks hails from Nashville, Tennessee -- in 2013 his salary with the Los Angeles Lakers was $1.5 million.

As a college player at the University of Kentucky in 2009 Meeks put one in the history books netting the highest scoring performance in Wildcat history.
