DETROIT (CBS Detroit) – The deadline is nearing for entrepreneurs to submit their applications to win a $50,000 grant from the Comerica Hatch Detroit Contest presented by the Detroit Lions.
Applicants have until 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, to submit their applications to Hatch Detroit for a chance to win the grant.
“If you are interested in opening a business now is the time to do it in Detroit,” said Vittoria Katanski, executive director of Hatch Detroit. “The 50,000 prize is just one of the greatest benefits of being part of the Hatch family.”
This is the fourth year of the contest – which supports new independent retail businesses – and for the first time it has expanded the contest area beyond Detroit’s border. Previous winners including HUGH, La Feria and Batch Brewing.
Those looking to open a business in Highland Park and Hamtramck now can enter the contest.
Following the deadline, the applications will be reviewed and the top 25 to 35 will reviewed by judges. The top 10 will then be put to a vote for the grand prize.
