Quicken Loans Tops In The Live Downtown Games

By Edward Cardenas

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - A team of employees from Quicken Loans topped five other downtown Detroit companies in a series of athletic and philanthropic competitive events to win the third Live Downtown Games.

Employees from Quicken, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Compuware, DTE Energy, Strategic Staffing Solutions and Marketing Associates competed on their lunch hours, and after work, in a series of events around downtown.

Field Day at DTE Energy, volleyball at Compuware and assembling 3,000 Red Cross preparedness kits were among the events nearly 300 employees participated in during the week-long competition.

"We are looking forward to continuing to build on the momentum, continuing to build what is going on down here, continuing to build housing so more folks can live downtown to live work and play," said Bill Emerson, as he addressed the closing ceremony of the games in Campus Martius. "And if we keep doing that, this city is going to continue grow, continue to come back - downtown, the neighborhoods, everything. We are going to have an awesome Detroit."

The games were created in 2012 to celebrate the Live Downtown program which is coordinated by the Downtown Detroit Partnership, and administered by Midtown Detroit Inc., to give incentives to people who are working downtown to live in the city.
