Uber Drives To New Locations In Michigan

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - On-demand car service Uber is expanding to four new cities throughout Michigan, the company announced on its blog.

Grand Rapids, Lansing, Kalamazoo and Flint are joining Ann Arbor and Detroit as communities where Uber is offering its smart phone-based service.

In these four communities, the ride-sharing services is offering UberX which offers "Uber reliability with prices cheaper than a taxi," according to the post.

The company stated UberX drivers have undergone a screening process which includes a stringent background check, driving history check and ongoing quality controls.

In these four new areas, the service is offering free UberX for two weeks.
