Police Investigate Separate Accidents Which Killed 2 Men

DETROIT (WWJ) - Macomb County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a fatal crash overnight in Lenox Township. It happened just before 11 p.m. on New Haven Road at 28 Mile Road.

Police say the driver of a Jeep Cherokee veered from the road and struck a tree--catching the Jeep on fire.

Thirty-one-year old Michael Giacobbi of Sterling Heights was thrown from the vehicle and died.

It's not clear if alcohol was a factor in the crash.

While in Clinton Township, police are investigating a fatal accident involving a pedestrian.

The accident happened about 9 p.m. Sunday on Groesbeck near Little Mack.

Police say 69-year old Samuel Steiner was walking across Groesbeck when he was hit.

The owner of the car that struck him stopped at the scene and called 911.

Police say she had not been drinking alcohol and was questioned and released from the scene.
