Four-Star Recruit Drake Davis Chooses Soccer Over Football

It has finally happened: Soccer is more popular than football to one prized recruit. Now I saw the word "prized" and I understand high school rankings really don't mean much.

Wide receiver Drake Davis of Fork Union, Va has decided to not attend then likes of Florida State, Alabama, or Miami, among others, to instead play soccer.

I never once thought a big-time athlete would ever choose soccer over football...but I was oh so wrong.

The 6'4" Davis is ranked the tenth highest receiver in the 2016 recruiting class.

Davis' football coach Brian Hurlocker has said Davis won't play football this year to focus on soccer. "This is a decision he made in the spring and he's stuck with it," Hurlocker said.

Could this be the start of high school kids choosing soccer over football? When I was in high school I use to say the kids who played soccer were the ones who weren't good at football. Yet again I was proven wrong. It isn't the first time or the last.
