Police Make Arrest In Shooting Of 7-Year-Old, Continue Search For 2nd Suspect

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Police say they have a 22-year-old man in custody related to the shooting of a 7-year-old girl, who was caught in the middle of an exchange of gunfire, while riding her bike near her home Sunday afternoon.

Seven-year-old India Williams was shot during a high speed chase between two cars on Charest street near Eight Mile Road in northeast Detroit.

Witnesses tell police there were two cars occupied by several suspects, firing shots at each other when India was shot in the shoulder and chest.

Detectives are still looking for a second gunman involved in the shooting. He is described as a black man, 36-years-old, 6 feet, 1 inch and is bald. He may be driving a black minivan.
