Governor: State Of Michigan Ready To Effectively Respond To Any Ebola Issues
LANSING (WWJ) - The governor says he's confident if Ebola were ever to hit Michigan... health officials are prepared.
Although there are no Ebola cases in Michigan; Governor Rick Snyder said in a statement, that the state of Michigan is prepared should that occur.
"If a case is found," Snyder said in a release. "I am confident that our health care system and our public health infrastructure are ready to effectively respond."
While there are no direct flights from West Africa to Detroit, we are in a global environment with free access to world-wide travel.
At Detroit Metropolitan Airport there is Center for Disease Control quarantine station staffed and ready to go.
There are 1024 isolation beds across the state if needed. And the state has 1 of 14 laboratories across the country - with the capability to quickly and accurately test for this disease.
