Detroit Lions Head To London For Match-Up Against Atlanta Falcons

DETROIT (WWJ) - It's "London Calling" for the Detroit Lions--who'll 'clash' next week with the Atlanta Falcons at Wembley Stadium in England.

Everything Honolulu Blue and Silver is being packed up. The team and their equipment will be jetting out for the United Kingdom Monday night.

The road trip comes 24 hours after the Lions thrilling come from behind win over the New Orleans Saints at Ford Field. Detroit is now 5-2 on the year ... and fans are becoming more hopeful about what's to come.

"Like every Lions fan, it's always the Super Bowl ... you've got to say Super Bowl every year and then you get disappointed around December," laughed one Lions fan.

Kurk Bunker of Roseville says each unit has been performing at a very high level.

"Pretty solid passing, obviously we've got the number one defense in the league right now, solid defense brings in the offense --we got a lot of time on the field not making many mistakes," said Bunker.

Bunker says the team will prove fair weather fans wrong as well.

"Their defense ... I love Ndamukong Suh, " said Brook Rushing of Saginaw about the strength of the Lions.

Rushing says she's hoping the team doesn't disappoint again and she's hoping for the best.

Paul Leek, also of Saginaw, says the Lions will do just enough to get back into the playoffs and predicts the Lions will finish the regular season at 10-6.

"The Lions have done that a few times in the past, but honestly, the true fans, that have stuck it through, when they actually get through to the Super Bowl, we'll be there to say I told you so," said Bunker.

The Detroit Lions won their last playoff game in 1992 against the Dallas Cowboys at the Pontiac Silverdome and are 1-9 in their last 10 playoff games.
