DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are looking for tips in the case of a missing 35-year-old woman.

Police say Shelley Desanto was last in contact with her sister via text message at around 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30 — and no one has seen or heard from her since.

She was last seen in the 6500 block of Granville in Detroit.

Desanto is described as a white female, six-feet tall and around 170 pounds. She has hazel/brown eyes and multiple tattoos.

According to police, Desanto has been diagnosed with mental illness, may be suicidal and family members are concerned.

Shannon Sharpe, Desanto's sister, last heard from Desanto Wednesday afternoon via text message.

"The last text message that I did receive from her was like a suicide text," Sharpe said. "Then she stopped all communication -- we've exhausted all leads trying to find her."

Sharpe said that it's not the first time that Desanto has threatened with suicide.

"A couple of months ago, we had an episode where she had threatened to commit suicide and I went over to the house and I took the gun away from her," Sharpe said.

Anyone who may have seen Desanto or who knows where she is asked to call Detroit Police Criminal Investigations at 313-596-5640.
