Nick Castellanos Named Tigers Rookie Of The Year

DETROIT – Detroit Tigers third baseman Nick Castellanos was named the Tigers Rookie of the Year by the Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association today.

Castellanos hit .259 (138x533) with 50 runs scored, 31 doubles, four triples, 11 home runs and 66 RBI in 148 games. His 31 doubles were the 10th most by a rookie in franchise history and the most since Austin Jackson had 34 doubles in 2010.

Castellanos ranked second among American League rookies with 31 doubles, 66 RBI and 138 hits, while he was tied for fourth with 35 multi-hit games.

Castellanos will be presented with his award prior to a 2015 Tigers home game at Comerica Park. The Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association has selected a Tigers Rookie of the Year since 1969.
