Twitter Considering Improvements To Video, Direct Messages And Timelines

By Edward Cardenas

SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - Twitter provided a glimpse Wednesday into its plans to improve the social network for its users.

Videos, timeline enhancements and improvements to direct messages are among the changes Twitter is considering in the coming months.

"Ultimately, we believe there is something for everyone at any time on Twitter, and we want to make finding your niche simple from the start," Kevin Weil, vice president of product, wrote in a blog post.

Weil stated that Twitter is considering an option for users to share their own videos - and not just Vine videos - on Twitter during the first half of the year.

Additionally, Twitter is considering new ways for users to be able to see some of the 500 million Tweets published daily that are relevant to them. Among the options being considering include an instant, personalized timeline along with ways to bring "relevant" Tweets to users.

There will also be updates to direct messages coming as early as next week. The new option will allow users to share and discuss Tweets "natively" and privately with direct messages.
