Ghost Hunters Given OK To Conduct Tours Of Royal Oak's Historic Orson Starr House

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) -- Into the AfterLife Paranormal has gotten approval from the city of Royal Oak to begin running ghost tours at the historic Orson Starr House.

Karen Crawford, former Chairman of the Royal Oak Historical Commission, claims to have heard footsteps in the house.

"I quite often heard what sounded like footsteps upstairs," Crawford said. "There's been times that we've had squirrels get in and that sort of thing, I've heard those kinds of steps like on the roof -- it didn't sound like that, it sounded like a boot."

Over the years, there have been reports from the 19th century Orson Starr House of some visitors hearing sounds of people who aren't there -- an older man heard in the basement -- children laughing and even a report of someone seeing an image of a German Shepherd.

"I just would kind of say, 'Hi, Orson,' and it would stop," Crawford said. "I don't know that it was Orson Starr's ghost that I heard, but I heard something and I just sort of accepted it as part of being in an old house."

Crawford said that she is not sure she approves of that particular group running the tours. The tours will begin in May 2015.
