2-Year Construction Project Over Zilwaukee Bridge Completed

ZILWAUKEE, Michigan (WWJ) - A two-year project to reconstruct the north and southbound lanes of I-75 in Saginaw County, and over the Zilwaukee Bridge, has come to and end.

The $70-million reconstruction project of I-75 through Saginaw County is finally done. Anita Richardson with the Michigan Department of Transportation says northbound lanes are reopening Wednesday.

"We will have a short duration closure tomorrow and that's just to remove temporary pavement markings and replace it with permanent markings because we had traffic from northbound on the southbound lanes," said Richardson.

She says traffic will no longer be detoured to northbound I-675, when they hit Saginaw County - they will be able to go straight through on I-75, all lanes are open and that's going to be a hugh convenience.

The project stretched four-miles, and finished a month ahead of schedule.
