Man On The Run After Allegedly Stabbing Girlfriend During Argument Over 'Extreme Jealousy'

ROSEVILLE (WWJ) - Roseville police are searching for a man who jumped from a balcony to avoid being arrested for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend during an argument over his "extreme jealousy."

The incident happened around 3 p.m. Tuesday at an apartment complex in the 30000 block of Sunburst, near 13 Mile and Utica roads.

A 26-year-old woman told police she and her live-in boyfriend were arguing over his extreme jealously, when he allegedly struck her several times in the head and face -- and then grabbed a knife.

The woman said she fought with her boyfriend over control of the knife and at some point during the altercation, she suffered a stab wound to the stomach.

Neighbors who heard the altercation taking place called for police. As officers arrived at the scene, the suspect jumped from a second floor balcony and was able to flee the area before officers had the opportunity to take him into custody.

The woman was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. She is currently listed in temporary serious condition.

Roseville police say they "hope to be able to locate the suspect and arrest the suspect in short order."

The suspect's name and description were not released.
