Report: Jim Harbaugh Using Michigan As Leverage

Word of an alleged blockbuster deal offered by the University of Michigan to make Jim Harbaugh the highest paid coach in college history is all the talk today.

Is it for real? Here's something to consider, from Profootballtalk.com and other sources.

Harbaugh could very well be using Michigan as leverage to get more money from NFL teams.

The website also says Harbaugh has used Michigan once before.

In 2011, Harbaugh rejected an Ann Arbor offer that would have paid him $5.2 million annually.  Instead, he took $5 million per year from the 49ers, who originally hoped to get Harbaugh for $4 million to $4.5 million per year.  Without the Michigan offer, it would have been difficult for Harbaugh to shake $5 million per year from the Niners.

Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson said on Twitter that Dec. 30 is the most important date for Michigan and Harbaugh.

If you had to bet your mortgage, do you think Harbaugh will land at Michigan?
