Worker Burned In Farmington Hills Concrete Plant Fire Dies
FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ/AP) - A Monroe County man has died of severe burns from a fire at a concrete plant where he was working.
Thirty-seven-year-old Greg Messenger of Temperance died Thursday night at Detroit Medical Center.
Greg Messenger was burned on his arms, hands and face when he was trapped in the Jan. 8 fire inside a large storage tower at Piedmont Concrete in Farmington Hills. Six others who were injured in the fire have since recovered.
His sister-in-law, Julie Messenger, says the hospital did everything it could for him.
The Farmington Hills Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire, which officials say appears accidental. The owner of Piedmont Concrete said Messenger was part of a crew that was working to restore the tower.
