Marine Reservists Arrested In Connection With 7-Eleven Armed Robbery

CLINTON TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Two Marine reservists have been arrested and charged for their role in a convenience story robbery in Macomb Township last summer.

Following the armed robbery of a 7-Eleven store on Romeo Plank and 22 Mile last June - Macomb County Sheriff Tony Wickersham told WWJ's Chris Renwick what led to the arrests of 20-year-old Mark Taylor of Clinton Township and 24-year-old Michael Rentz of Shelby Township.

"Our investigation continued and we were able to get some tips which led us to these two individuals - at which point we brought them in," said Wickersham. "They made admissions of their involvement."

Wickersham says the tip that led to the arrest of the pair came in just last week.

"We do appreciate when the public gets involved and somebody that knows something reports it to us and gives us an opportunity to continue our investigation and arrest somebody for these crimes."

Taylor and Rentz were allegedly armed with a pistol and an assault rifle when they got away with cash and cigarettes.
