More Free Water Scheduled For Distribution In Flint

FLINT, Mich. (AP) - More jugs of water are scheduled for giveaway to Flint residents wary of what's coming from their taps as the city transitions to a new municipal system.

The Flint Journal reports Friday that U.S. Rep. Dan Kildee is partnering with community and labor organizations to distribute 2,000 gallons of water Monday. Kildee is a Flint Township Democrat.

More than 2,000 cases of water were passed out Thursday. Monday's distribution will take place at a church and union office.

Flint cut its Detroit water ties last year and is getting tap water from the Flint River.

Residents have complained about the smell, and the federal government has cited Flint for high levels of a disinfectant by-product.

The city says the water is safe. It's building a line to Lake Huron.
