U.S. District Judge Shot In Apparent Robbery Attempt; Detroit Police Searching For Gunmen

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - A U.S. District Court Judge was shot outside his home in Detroit in an apparent attempted robbery.

Authorities say Judge Terrence Berg was shot in the leg Thursday evening on the city's northwest side.

The 55-year old judge rushed to a hospital, but his current condition is unknown. Police described the injury as non-life threatening.

Police are looking for two suspects in a black Chrysler 300 or a Dodge Charger.

Police are also investigating whether any personal property was taken from the shooting scene.

The FBI is aware of the shooting but are not commenting at this time.

President Barack Obama appointed Berg in 2012. Before that, Berg served as an assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan.

Born in Detroit in 1959, he also was chief of the high tech crime unit in the Michigan Attorney General's Office.
