Detroit Man With Dementia Goes Missing In Middle Of Freezing Cold Night

DETROIT (WWJ) - Authorities are searching for a 58-year-old Detroit man who went missing in the middle of the night after walking away from an adult foster care home.

Police say Robert Krogol, who suffers from dementia, was last seen around 1 a.m. Friday in the 19100 block of Tireman, between Evergreen Road and the Southfield Freeway on the city's west side.

Lt. Sherell Stanley said time is of the essence in locating Krogol, especially with temperatures dropping to just single digits overnight.

"It's our understanding that he left the facility on foot and it's also our understanding that he does not have a cellphone or relatives or friends in the immediate area," Stanley told WWJ's Laura Bonnell. "Considering how frigidly cold it is tonight, we were simply concerned with his wellbeing so we utilized all available resources. We sent out multiple units to scour the area, we checked with local hospitals and with Greyhound, and we also called out K-9s."

Krogol is described as a white male, 5'9" tall with long white hair and glasses. He was last seen wearing a light grey jacket with the words USA on the front and blue jeans. Police did not immediately provide a photo of Krogol.

Anyone with information on Krogol's whereabouts is urged to contact police at 313-596-5600.
