CBS DETROIT - After U-D Jesuit defeated Clarkston on Tuesday in the Class A quarterfinals, one Twitter user, who appears to be Clarkston student, took to Twitter to express frustration in a way that to many appeared to have negative racial overtones.

In a tweet that has since been deleted, the individual wrote, "We'd rather lose with our homegrown talent than win with Nigerians."

The hashtag "wolvespride" was also included in the tweet.

Wednesday, the individual took to Twitter to apologize for his remark - and to deny that it was racist.

U-D Jesuit's roster includes two African players, Gregory Eboigbodin and Ikechukwu Eke, and according to an article by SooDetroit, the two players have also been targets of racist remarks at games.
