No Drama As Michigan Screens Iraq War Film `American Sniper'

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - There's been no off-screen drama at the University of Michigan's screening of the Iraq War movie "American Sniper."

The Ann Arbor school announced Tuesday that it was cancelling the showing of the movie during a mixer Friday because of complaints about portrayals of Arabs and the Middle East.

But Michigan reversed course Wednesday and said the show was on.

About 100 people saw the movie at the Michigan Union's Anderson room and says there were no organized protests according to The Michigan Daily.

The student newspaper says an announcer warned any disruptors would be removed.

The Ann Arbor News says police detained two people after about 40 protesters disrupted a showing at Eastern Michigan University.
Clint Eastwood directed "American Sniper," which stars Bradley Cooper playing Navy Seal Chris Kyle.
