Local Dealership Urges People To Join Their 'Walk For Wishes' Team For Make-A-Wish Kids

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - Team Gordon Chevrolet is inviting the community to join them at the Detroit Zoo next month for their 13 annual Walk For Wishes.

The goal: Help grant the wishes of children coping with life threatening illnesses.

For Susan Ianni, General Manager at Gordon Chevrolet, this walk is personal. Her 2-year-old granddaughter Lucy was diagnosed with leukemia shortly after birth.

"She's been in chemo treatments for two years and two months now and we've seen first hand how devastating this is for a family, and how important these charities like Make A Wish are for families that have children that are sick," Ianni told WWJ's Chrystal Knight.

The Saturday, May 2 event begins with registration at 7 a.m. and a ribbon cutting walk kick-off at 9 a.m. There are no registration fees to attend the event, although each walk participant is encouraged to raise a minimum of $100. Click here to register online for Team Gordon Chevrolet.

More than 3,000 people attend last year's Walk for Wishes, raising $400,000 to help grant the wishes of Michigan children with life-threatening medical conditions.
