CBS DETROIT - The third annual "Taste of the Lions" fundraiser at Ford Field happens next week, and VIP tickets have already sold out, even though prices were 20 percent higher than they were for last year's event.

VIP tickets for this year's event were $300, while general admission tickets are still available at $175.

Last year, VIP tickets were $250 and general admission tickets were $150.

A huge turnout for the 2014 event preceded the price hikes, and now the amount charged to attend "Taste of the Lions" is more in line with ticket prices for similar events held by other teams. Last year the Minnesota Vikings charged $175 for general admission and $150 for season ticket holders. The Dallas Cowboys charged $175 at the door for this year's event. The Denver Broncos are charging $300 for VIP tickets and $200 for general admission.

"Taste of the Lions," a wine and food event during which players are available for meet-and-greets, is an extension of the league's "Taste of the NFL" program, which began in 1992. Detroit has seen its event flourish thanks to high player participation and the unique layout of the concourse of Ford Field.

The proceeds of the event go to Eastern Market and its community outreach programming.
