Police: Michigan Man Accused Of Waterboarding 5-Year-Old Boy

MOUNT MORRIS, Mich. (AP) — A Michigan man is facing child abuse charges after authorities say he restrained his girlfriend's 5-year-old son with belts, leaned him back over a footstool and poured water down his underwear-covered face.

The Flint Journal reports that the 30-year-old man from Mount Morris, near Flint, also is accused of prodding the woman's 12-year-old son in the chest and throat with a knife.

The man was arrested on eight counts. His name hasn't been released.

Police Chief Keith Becker says both boys were removed from the home. He says their mother hasn't been charged in the ongoing investigation.

Becker says the man allegedly used waterboarding, which simulates drowning, to punish the 5-year-old after he ripped his backpack.

Becker says police were notified after school officials noticed the boy acting differently.
