Michigan: Psychologist Didn't Report Past Convictions

LANSING, Mich. (AP) - State officials are accusing a psychologist of not reporting past rape and armed robbery convictions when he applied in 1993 to practice in Michigan.

The Detroit Free Press reports Wednesday that Michigan's Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs filed an administrative complaint earlier this month against Fort Wayne, Indiana-based Francis John Deisler.

The complaint states that Deisler was convicted in 1973 in Wisconsin of rape and armed robbery and in 1974 of rape, burglary and attempted burglary.

It says "no" was marked on his Michigan application for a license when asked of past convictions. An incorrect birthdate and Social Security number also were listed.

Deisler's attorney, David Keesling, says he has to view the complaint. He also says Deisler has "always publicly stated he is a rehabilitated offender."
