CBS DETROIT - Detroit Red Wings general manager Ken Holland will introduce the team's new head coach in a press conference Tuesday, the organization announced Monday afternoon.

The Red Wings are expected to hire Jeff Blashill, who has spent the past three seasons as the head coach of the Grand Rapids Griffins, the AHL affiliate of the Red Wings.

Before taking over the Griffins, Blashill spent the 2011-2012 season as an assistant with the Red Wings under former head coach Mike Babcock, who left Detroit after the 2014-2015 season following a 10-year run with the team.

Blashill attracted significant attention from various NHL teams after winning the Calder Cup with the Griffins in 2013, but he agreed to not talk with the other teams in exchange for a raise.
