Ann Arbor Police Seek Tips To ID Suspect In Apartment Parking Lot Attack

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - Ann Arbor police are looking for a man who they say attacked a young woman late Tuesday night after she got off a bus.

Police say the 21-year old victim was walking toward her apartment, in the 2000-block of Huron Parkway near Washtenaw, at 11:10 p.m. when she noticed a man — whom she recognized as another bus passenger — closely following her.

As she entered the apartment complex parking lot, the woman told police, she turned to ask the man to give her some space and that's when he attacked her, forcing her to he ground while choking her.

As the man attempted to grope her, police said, the woman fought her attacker, struggling with him on the ground until a vehicle pulled up and shined its headlights on the pair.

Police said that's when the suspect fled, running in the direction of Huron Parkway.

The suspect is described as a man in his 20s, with an olive complexion, "possibly Pacific Islander in appearance," short in stature — around 5, feet, 5 inches tall  — and 250 lbs. He was wearing square-rimmed glasses, a black long-sleeved shirt over a red t-shirt and black pants.

An investigation continues.

Anyone who recognizes this suspect, seen in security photos from the bus, or who has any information about this crime is asked to call the Ann Arbor Police Department tip line at 734-794-6939. Those with information can also email tips to TIPS@a2gov.org.
