Auto Worker Dies After Being Caught In Robotic Machine

IONIA, Mich. (WWJ/AP) - Police say an employee at an automotive stamping facility in Michigan has died after getting trapped in a robotic machine.

The Ionia Public Safety Department says the employee of Ventra Ionia Main was reported trapped around 2:20 p.m. Tuesday at the facility in Ionia, about 130 miles west of Detroit.

Officers and co-workers freed the employee from the machine, but the worker was pronounced dead at the facility.

The employee's name was not released.

The incident is being investigated by Ionia authorities and the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
